Highlight Story

Be it playing a dejected young industrialist Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met or twins with speech impediment Charlie/Guddu in Kaminey or three characters in the recently-released Teri Meri Kahaani, actor Shahid Kapoor has come a long way in his nine-year-old career.

“I am lucky to be doing the kind of films I want to be part of,” says the 31-year-old.

Sasha, as he’s fondly called, also admits that it was not easy dealing with the failure of Mausam. “I was emotionally attached to Mausam. I believe if a film does not work, then there has to be something wrong with it. All you can do is to learn and move on,” he says.

Sasha reportedly took a dig at actor Anil Kapoor at the IIFA for the latter’s absence. He kept referring to an empty chair, asking: Where is Mr India? However, Sasha says it was all in good humour, adding he had a complete blast hosting the show with Farhan Akhtar.

Read on as Kapoor, who was recently seen cheering lil brother Ishaan at choreographer Shiamak Dawar’s show, talks about Ishaan’s Bollywood plans, TMK and more.

Shahid speaks...

On Teri Meri Kahaani
It’s a love story spanning three time periods. Though I try to keep myself away from love stories as I believe there is not much that can be done in that genre, this one was challenging.

On the failure of Mausam
I was emotionally attached to Mausam. I believe if a film does not work, then there has to be something wrong with it. All you can do is to learn and move on.

On Anil Kapoor
I did not take any dig on Anil ji. Whatever was said was said in good humour. I know Anil ji for long. It was not to hurt anyone.

On his brother
Ishaan is just 16. I will let him chose for himself what he wants to do in life, and will always support him in whatever he wants to do.

On his next films
There is a Yashraj film with Maneesh Sharma, opposite Parineeti Chopra, then Bijoy Nambiar’s next production, a full on masala film with Prabhudeva.
