Deepika Padukone’s performance in Cocktail earned her some positive reviews. And now, the leggy star will resume shooting for Ayan Mukerji’s rom-com Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, where she’s paired with former boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor. However, Deepika plans to take time off from the film’s shooting schedule to make a quick visit to the London Olympics.

“It gives me gooseflesh when I think of the Games because sports have been a part of my life. I’ve played badminton at state level when I was younger. And I know how our sporting heroes must feel right now,” beams Deepika, who has shot a video to encourage the sportspersons representing the country.

While filmmaker Karan Johar and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are the only two privileged invitees at the Games that will flag off on July 25, Deepika adds, “My dates have been allotted to the movie, but if I request Ayan, he may just let me go. I don’t mind even if it’s for a day.”

The actor took time out from her busy schedule last year to be a part of the Olympic Gold Quest, started by her father, badminton player Prakash Padukone. Promising athletes were trained for the Olympic Games and also provided with financial and medical aid. “Seventeen Indians have qualified for various games so far, and this is just the beginning. It’s a proud moment for me,” she says.
