Actor Shahid Kapoor turned 29 last week and contrary to reports about wild party plans, the actor says he celebrated the day only with family.
“Everyone made plans that I didn’t know about. It was quite annoying. But the truth was — there were no plans beyond the family,” he said. Thinking of the past.
Till date, Shahid has only had a couple of birthday parties. “I hate birthday parties. I had one for my last birthday and it drove me nuts. If friends take over and have a party for me, only then will I be a part of it in future,” the actor said. His earliest memory of a birthday celebration goes back to when he was four years old, and lived in Delhi. “As a child, I’d embarrass my mom at birthdays by snatching the gift from the guests, opening it and expressing my pleasure or displeasure.”
But no matter how embarrassed he made her feel, she is a proud woman today. And her being around on his 29th birthday is what he cherished the most. “My mom and I have a great emotional connect,” he said.
Single for now
Regarding rumours of a link-up with actress Deepika Padukone, Shahid said, “I’ve met her a few times. She seems like a nice person. But when there’s someone in my life, I’ll announce it properly. At the moment, I’m scared to meet a girl for the fear of being linked up.”
