I’ll always be Kareena’s greatest support: KJo

A few days ago, Kareena Kapoor told Hindustan Times in an interview that “one film can’t cost a relationship”. And now, Karan, too, has rubbished the rumours of a fall-out.

They go back a long way. But earlier this year, rumour had it that things had soured between Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karan Johar after the actor opted out of the film-maker’s ambitious next — that stars Salman Khan in the lead.

But a few days ago, Kareena told HT Café in an interview that “one film can’t cost a relationship”. And now, Karan, too, rubbishes the rumours of a fall-out.

“Our relationship is above and beyond our professional ties because we are very close personally,” he says, adding, “When you love someone dearly, and they are part of your home and heart, it’s very saddening that you have to constantly justify your love for her or anyone else. I will always be Kareena’s greatest support in the industry.”

In the past, Kareena has starred in many of Karan’s films such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kurbaan (2009), Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013).

“I strongly feel that a personal equation should not be a part of any professional understanding. There’s no contract, legality or modality when it comes to a personal relationship,” adds Karan, who is now preparing to start the film with Salman after much speculation about the cast.

“I would not like to comment on who is not part of the film. All I want to say is that Salman is our leading man. Everything else is just speculation or conjecture,” he adds.
