His role in 1920 may not have fetched him as many accolades as he may have wanted, but as Rajniesh Duggall is ready to return to the big screen with Phirr. HT City caught up with the actor for a chat.
Tell us about your forthcoming film Phirr?
Phirr is a thriller and a suspense-drama with lots of action. The story revolves around a character named Dr Kabir, who loses his wife, and his quest of finding her.
What about your other upcoming projects?
My next two films are both comedies. The audience will see me shaking a leg. I got my dancing genes from my grandpa, who used to dance pretty well. My mom and dad never had those genes!
Who’s your dancing idol?
I absolutely love Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapur and Shah Rukh Khan. As for me, I believe in doing something that nobody has done as yet.
How have you managed to keep yourself away from becoming tabloid fodder?
I just stay involved with my work so there is no time for controversies or rumours.
Adah Sharma seems to be getting all the attention in the promos of Phirr. Do you think you have been sidelined?
There are some people who manage to stay in the limelight while others like me don’t. My lack of networking and lobbying could be the reason behind it. But my role in the film makes up for it.
Are you comfortable romancing on screen? Who would you like to play your love interest?
I love doing it [romancing] as far as it is meant for the camera. Though I would love to romance all the heroines in today’s time, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra are on the top of the list.
You weren’t nominated for the best debutant category for 1920 in any of the award shows...
It hurts… but I guess it’s the outcome of lack of lobbying and selling myself ,because I am not too good at it.
