I’m not a lover boy: Olivier Martinez

I’m anything but a lover boy. I hate playing that role even in films,” says French Actor Olivier Martinez, 45, who is as famous for his off-screen love life as he is for his on-screen romances. Martinez, who is currently dating Oscar-winner Halle Berry, is in Delhi to judge restored vintage cars as a part of the Cartier Travel with Style Concours event.

Eager to talk about Indian cinema and his love for cars, Martinez remains reserved when it comes to the woman in his life. “Yes, we are together but I’ve never felt the need to validate our relationship for the press. It’s my personal life,” he says. Probe him and he gives in a bit. “We definitely share a passion for a lot of common things. And we do a lot of things together but that’s all that I’m telling you,” he smiles.

The actor maintains his cheeky silence when asked about his war of words with actor Gerard Butler about their ‘manhood’.

Ask about Bollywood and Martinez is all excited. “I’d gladly do an Indian film as long as the producers don’t ask me to sing and dance. Cinema here is great. It’s so commercial yet at times it has such powerful stories,” he says.

The actor’s love for all things Indian extends to architecture as well. “The palaces in Rajasthan are like nothing I’ve seen before. And coming from a French man it means I’m not just being polite. We know a thing or two about building beautiful things,” he says.

So, does this mean we’ll see much more of him in India? “I would love to spend more time here. I come here every year and have travelled a lot in Rajasthan and Maharashtra but let’s see how life goes.”

Living it up in Delhi
While in Delhi, Olivier Martinez is staying at Taj Palace hotel along with other judges of the vintage car rally — Prince Michael of Kent, 68, and former supermodel Yasmin Le Bon, 46. Staying at the hotel’s special club floor, they are served special chocolates and rare liquors. “I love coming to India, I’ve been here a lot before, but this my first time in Delhi and I’m having a great time,” says Le Bon.

About her last visit to Mumbai two years ago, she says, “I hung out with some Bollywood stars as we partied, and boy can they get very naughty!” Ask her to name names and she quips, “I don’t want to get into trouble. But I never expected them to be like that. They can sure be cheeky!”
