Highlight Story

Actor Chitrangada Singh is on a high these days. The dusky beauty, who was last seen in a glam role in Desi Boyz, is looking forward to her item song Kaafirana in Shirish Kunder’s Joker, her upcoming films and, well... grooming men too!

Looking ravishing in a royal blue gown by designer Gaurav Gupta, the 35-year-old, on her recent visit to the Capital on Thursday, revealed that she considers herself more of a trendsetter than a follower. “I am not a trend follower for sure... I am a trend setter,” said the actor, who is the brand ambassador of Gillette’s No Shave, No Lipstick movement.

On being asked, if she thinks that this campaign that aims at the importance of grooming in men, will not offend certain communities, she said, “It shouldn’t as I am not suggesting anyone to change their religion or change the way they look.”

Moving on, Singh seemed to be miffed about the reported controversy that her makeup man said that she wanted to look fair all the time. Clearing her stand, she said, “This is completely absurd, ridiculous and upsetting. I have no idea who this make up man is. For past three years Shaan is my makeup man and he is still around.” Singh added that she has even refused to endorse fairness creams.

“I am proud of my skin tone,” she said.

Talking about her upcoming projects, the actor said, “There is I, Me Aur Main opposite John Abraham. There is also Sudhir’s (Mishra) Inkaar with Arjun Rampal, where I play a victim of sexual harassment. And, I hope I rock every one with my item song Kaafirana, which will be launched in August.”

Chitrangada speaks...
On ‘fairness’
I am proud of my skin tone. I have got several offers to endorse fairness creams but I have always said no, because I don’t think beauty has anything to do with fairness.

On being a trend setter
I am not a trend follower for sure... I am a trendsetter. I believe in following a lot about how I feel, and who I am rather than following what others do.
