A native of LA, Omi Vaidya used to visit Mumbai quite often. It was on one such visit that he auditioned for a film by Raj Kumar Hirani, and became an overnight celebrity with the role of Chatur Ramalingam in 3 Idiots. He plans to do good roles in Bollywood, but for now, Omi is trying to woo small screen audiences by anchoring Centum U Bright Minds and Chhote Ustaad.

What would you do if Superman paid you a visit?
First I will ask him if he can really see through things and then whether he has been seeing things he’s not supposed to!

The whackiest prank you have ever played on someone?
During my college days, there was a friend who was very excited about getting into a special dorm. So I created a fake letter on April 1st saying that for some reason she couldn’t stay there. Poor girl – she was completely heartbroken.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could keep five things with you, what would you choose?
My wife, who should be in a good mood; an endless supply of potato chips; water; satellite TV with many channels and, if possible, a helicopter too.

If you could go back in time, which period of history would you go back to and why?
I would love to go back to the time of the Ramayana and Mahabharata and see for myself how true these things were.

What drives you up the wall?
Incompetence and lack of trust and honesty.

The turning point in your life?
When I was about 20, I was very sure of what I was going to do in life. But, something happened and I failed miserably. That was the time I really became a man and started focussing on life.

The craziest rumour you have heard about yourself?
That I was the best looking Indian actor in Bollywood.

The one show on TV you don’t like to miss?
Modern Family - an American TV show and also Indian Idol.

You are sentimental about?
My parents and family and also about people who don’t have as much luck as I have.

One thing you love about your partner.
Besides having a great sense of humour, she has loads of patience too.

What do you do in a crisis?
First you panic, then get angry, then start thinking logically and finally you come up with a plan.
