Under-19 World Cup winning team captain Unmukt Chand is happy that Delhi University has allowed him to move to the second year and complete his first year BA exams in the forthcoming semesters. "I am a Sephenian and always want to be one. I am happy that the issue has been sorted. It's a happy ending."
With that taken care of, Unmukt has an eye on the upcoming India-A series in New Zealand. "I just want to concentrate on the next step. I can't predict when I will be selected to the national team. I hope I do. But, right now, I am just focusing on doing well in New Zealand."
Moving on to his big win, the Delhi-based young cricketer says he got compliments from several players from the national team. "Yuvraj Singh called me immediately after our win and said Chaa Gae Puttar. I got calls from Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli too. It feels great. It's a dream come true. I feel on top of the world."
Apart from Sachin Tendulkar being his idol, he also feels inspired by Virat Kohli's career. Kohli, a Delhi boy himself, also played under 19 and is now the vice captain of the national team. "Virat gives me a lot of advice. He told me to just believe in myself and say 'I'm the best'. That really helped. I look at Sachin Tendulkar as my idol. But in the last two years, Virat has also become a big inspiration," says Unmukt.
Sports is not all that keeps Unmukt occupied though. "I watch movies. I really like Shah Rukh Khan. I want to act with him some day. And, may be hang out with him. That would be cool." Among the Bollywood divas, Anuskha Sharma and Chitrangda Singh are his favourites. "I like Anushka a lot and I love Chitrangda's voice," he says.
