Highlight Story

From being a software engineer who never saw herself in the glamorous shoes of a model or actress, to the winner of one of the premium modelling competitions in the country, Miss India International Neha Hinge is living a dream. Winning a host of other titles along with the crown, this beauty queen has a lot going her way.

“It was my birthday and it was the best ever,” says Hinge. “I always wanted to take part in Miss India but I felt that education is important. Now I am just enjoying the limelight,” she says. Hinge was also the Junta’s Choice, Miss Fresh Face, Miss Professional and contender for the Miss India Bollywood Diva title too.

Winning the crown “Everything happens for a reason,” says the beauty queen. “India has represented and won at Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth and even Miss Asia Pacific pageants, but never at Miss International. If I can achieve this, I will be at par with Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai.”

Not a size zero
Surprisingly, this diva is a complete foodie. “I am more of an eating person than a cook,” says Hinge. “ I see what my mom is cooking and I get so desperate to eat! Indian is my favourite cuisine.” So how does Hinge maintain her figure? She answers, “I think workouts are very important. You can binge as long as you burn the calories with a proper exercise session. A typical day in my life always begins with a good jog.”

Hinge was very grateful to have not only won the title of India International, but also to have been a strong contender for Femina’s Bollywood Diva. Under the mentorship of Madhur Bhandarkar, Anupam Kher and Vipul Shah, she emerged a shining talent, and will get to star in a Bhandarkar movie soon.

Future plans
“Bollywood is my next step, but it is not the end of the world for me,” she says on a serious note. “I want to get into politics eventually.”

It is important to Hinge that she takes into stride whatever comes her way. “Everyone has something special in them. If one thing doesn’t go my way, I will try my hand at another.”

As of now, Hinge is only focussing on winning the Miss International title, to be held in China on November 7. She is also taking lessons in Chinese for the occasion and, of course, looking forward to indulging in some authentic Chinese cuisine.
