Apart from the thrill and excitement to race at the International Buddh Circuit, meeting Slum Dog Millionaire actor Dev Patel is on the mind of British racing driver Alice Powell.
"I have not watched many Bollywood films, but Slum Dog Millionaire is one movie that I have watched many times on DVD back home. I would want to meet the young chap (Dev Patel), who acted in the movie," says the 18-year-old racer, who was in the city to participate in the Delhi Championship with MRF, a support race of the Formula One Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit that kicks off today.
She has heard a lot about Delhi’s street food and is all excited to try some of the city’s delicacies. "I have heard that Delhi has a lot of good food to offer. I would love to try the Shaslik, but a less spicy version," says Powell, who has a sweet tooth, but has not tried Indian desserts yet.
"This was my first Diwali in India and I am very excited to have been able to be a part of the festival," says Powell, who will be cheering for Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button at the Formula One Championship.
There’s also some good news for the guys in the city, as Powell is single and wouldn’t mind having an Indian boyfriend. "I am single and on a look out for a boyfriend. the boys in Delhi too have a fair chance," says Powell, who prefers to wear skinny jeans and cotton tops when not in racing gear.
"My mom said, play hockey, don’t race. But I guess she bowed to my passion," she says.
