Adrian Sutil doesn’t mind making his foray in a country obsessed with cricket. The Sahara Force India racer says, “I know cricket is No. 1 in India. It’s good that Formula 1 is gaining foothold. People’s reaction to the sport is very important. I would love to see people cheering for motorsport in India. I think Force India is a step in the right direction.”
The German racer was in Mumbai this week to launch commemorative Kingfisher cans. The unveiling of the cans at Hard Rock Café, was followed by a percussion performance, where Sutil’s Force India teammates, Paul Di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg also participated.
“I have been to India once before. I was here last year for some PR work. After my long periods of training I plan to relax, check out Delhi and go for an outing. I haven’t seen much of the capital but would like more time to explore the city and the country. I want to go somewhere and see the real India that I know. I wish to see the agriculture in the countryside. I still enjoy all that,” says Sutil, when asked about how he plans to spend time in India.
Sutil also expresses his desire to watch Indian movies and his liking for Shah Rukh Khan. “I know about Bollywood. A while back I had read about My Name Is Khan, and watched it. Shah Rukh Khan is well known in Europe. In fact, he is the only actor from Bollywood that I know well. I have watched a few other Hindi films as well, but can’t remember the names. And now since I am linked to Force India, I think I need to watch Bollywood films.”
