Actor Liam Hemsworth, who is currently dating Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, is glad that his latest outing, sci-fi thriller, The Hunger Games has got him his due. So much so, that he’d like to act more. After Harry Potter and Twilight, the new series, based on a book by the same name as its title, is making waves abroad.
Hemsworth, who watched the premiere show of the film with Cyrus admits his lady love liked it and adds that the couple is fascinated by India to the extent that he would “love to come to see the Taj Mahal with Miley”.
The 22-year-old, who plays the character of Gale Hawthorne in the flick, however, says that the trilogy should not be compared with the Twilight saga. “I loved the story of Twilight and its genre. It was a new concept and I like Edward’s character. But our story is completely different. There is zero resemblance,” he says.
The actor admits he didn’t want to read the books until he heard they were being adapted into a franchise. “When I read them, I fell in love with them,” he says.
Most of Hemsworth’s character’s scenes are with X-Men: First Class actor Jennifer Lawrence, who plays his love interest, Katniss.
Ask if they had to undergo extreme practice for their stunts, he says, “I didn’t have to do many stunts. But I did train for a few weeks before we started shooting to lose weight and was eating a lot less. I had to look hungry and feel what hunger does to your brain.”
The second and third installments of the series, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, will follow next.
