“I have come to the city and the country for the first time, as due to the hectic schedule, I didn’t get a chance to come earlier. Now that I’m here, I would love to try the food in the city,” says Alonso.

The 30-year-old Spaniard says that he’s very impressed with the Buddh International Circuit. “I think this is going to be the best race for Formula One and for India, considering the infrastructure,” says Alonso.

The racer has not had favourable seasons in the past, but says it’s just because of the complexity of the motorsport. “Formula One is not mathematics. There are many things that play a role in a driver’s performance. It’s a complex motorsport,” he says.

But it’s not the thought of losing that worries Alonso, but the notion of finishing second in the race. “There are no particular targets in Formula One for our team, but we don’t like to finish second,” he said.

Alonso has also not set any targets for himself, for both this season and for the future. “The Red Bull team has been doing very well. I don’t have a set target in mind. But I think that in about five years time, I can expect myself to be a world champion,” he said.

According to Alonso, racing for a legendary team is not easy, as it brings with it a lot of expectations. “It’s the most legendary team in the world of motorsports and they have a lot of expectations from us. But that’s the case with everyone, from engineers to mechanics and other staff,” he says.
