Highlight Story

The buzz is that Imran Khan tops the wish list for Muzaffar Ali’s historical, titled Noor Jehan-Jehangir.

The director of Umrao Jaan (1981) is working on the 12th draft of the love story of Mughal Emperor Jehangir and Noor Jehan.

It is learnt that Anupam Kher has been finalised to play the role of Akbar.

Initially Kunal Kapoor was being considered for the role of Jehangir. But the producers were not too upbeat about that because of the supporting roles he has played in Laaga Chunarai Mein Daag and Bachna Ae Haseeno.

Budget bound
A budget of Rs 35 crore has been earmarked for the movie. Signing Kunal to play Jehangir seemed to be a commercially risky proposition. Imran Khan is currently in South Africa, shooting for Soham Shah’s Luck.

Talks with the Jaane will be initiated after the release of Kidnap. Ali’s last film Zooni had commenced shooting about two decades ago. A love story based on Kashmiri folklore, the director completed 30 per cent of the shooting with Vinod Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, but eventually the film was scrapped.
