Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron has his eyes...and mind, set on India. “I haven’t had the chance to visit India but I would like to visit soon,” says the 24-year-old, in an interview to HT City, adding, “...and I would like to use this platform and thank my Indian fans. I love you all.”
He can’t recall the names, but the actor is upbeat about Bollywood too. “I have watched a couple (of Bollywood films). They took me back to the High School Musicals, where your emotions are conveyed through beautiful melodies,” he says. “I loved Slumdog Millionaire, and I thought it’s a fantastic film,” adds the actor, surprised when told that the multiple-Oscar award winning drama was not an Indian production.
Efron says he’s now trying to break his chocolate boy image. “When I signed for High School Musical, I was a teenager and now I have been doing more mature roles. The Lucky One (his last release) was the most mature role I have ever done,” says the actor, who broke into tears at the recently-held Cannes International Film Festival when his forthcoming release, The Paperboy received a standing ovation.
Meanwhile he remains mum about link-ups with singer Taylor Swift and then actor Lily Collins. “I am currently single and not in any serious relationship.” On his rumoured penchant for older women, he says, “After I worked with Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman, I’ve been hearing these rumours myself.”
