Call India regressive and actor Sherlyn Chopra is ready to fight. That’s why actor Mallika Sherawat’s recent "repressive and depressed" comments about India didn’t go down well with her.

"To each her own! I belong to the India where I see progression and non-sexism. If there was any truth to her statement, people like me would have been out of work," says Sherlyn, who was seen promoting her film, Kamasutra 3D at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

"Without make-up I’m much more like a girl next-door," says the 29-year-old, who desires to work with next James Bond director Sam Mendes. "If he gets to read this he’d know I’m dying to be the next bond girl," she says.

Priyanka Chopra slams Mallika Sherawat for calling India 'regressive'
Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra condemned her fellow actress Mallika Sherawat for calling India a "regressive nation for women" on an international platform. Priyanka is "highly offended" by the Murder girl's statement at the recently concluded 66th Cannes International Film Festival.

"I think we are a progressive nation. I disagree that we are a regressive nation. We are all sitting here and talking about educating the girl child, taking our country forward. I think it's a misrepresentation of what our great nation is on the world platform," said the actress Monday at the launch of a mobile application by Unicef, of which she is an ambassador. Mallika Sherawat finds India depressing
Close on the heels of refuting rumours about her shifting to the US and explaining that she goes there only to “socialise”, actor Mallika Sherawat on Saturday said that India is a “depressing” place to be. And that, she said in an interview to a foreign magazine at the 66th Cannes Film Festival, is why she divides her time between India and the US.

“I made a conscious decision to divide my time between Los Angeles and India. So when I enjoy the social freedom in America and go back to India, which is so regressive for women, it’s depressing,” said the 36-year-old, who stunned everyone with as many as 17 on-screen kisses in her debut film, Khwahish, a decade ago.
