The real IPL action is now online. As things heat up on the cricket field, stars and sportsmen, and everyone associated with the Indian Premier League can be seen venting and wishing each other on the microblogging site, Twitter.
Actress Deepika Padukone, who performed at the opening ceremony on Friday night, thanked fans on Twitter soon after the performance. “A big thank u to all of u... glad ul enjoyed my performance... had a blast on stage!” she tweeted.
Right through the first match of the season where Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata team took on the Hyderabad IPL team, Khan’s friends Riteish Deshmukh and Kunal Kohli were on a tweeting spree. “Sending out victory energy to KKR!!! Rock it guys... this is your season all the way,” was one of the several tweets by filmmaker Karan Johar in support of Khan’s team.
Rajasthan team co-owner, actress Shilpa Shetty, tweeted, “It’s been long Shahrukh hoping to c a smile on ur face!! playin well, fingers crossed.” In fact, KKR is the first IPL team to have its own Twitter page. Though Khan was silent during the match, he has since been congratulating his team and responding to congratulatory tweets from celebs like Sussanne Khan and Shane Warne. “Yippeeeeee. finally got to see my kids & the boys in kkr smiling,” he tweeted.
Actress Preity Zinta, co-owner of the Punjab IPL team, too tweeted hours before her team’s match. “On route to Chandigarh! Heart is beating fast and the pulse is racing... First game today ! :-).”
