Media reports suggest the marriage of 17 years seems to have come to an end as Omar Abdullah and wife Payal have mutually decided to call it off. The rumours of the split have been going around for a while now and it is also believed that Abdullah may be remarrying soon.

Things were reportedly already falling apart for the couple and the split came as no surprise to those close to the couple. While Omar has been staying in Srinagar, Payal apparently moved to Delhi with their sons Zahir and Zamir, soon after Abdullah took the oath.

Not just this, the J&K CM even seems to have been avoiding his wife's residence in Delhi every time he visits the city, instead staying with his father Farooq Abdullah in his Safdarjung residence.

Reports also suggest that the split is mutual and there may be talk of Omar's remarriage. There are apparently two names in the reckoning, one of whom is a renowned media-person and the other (favoured by his father) the sister of politician Nasir Aslam Wani, a confidante of Farooq.

"Omar definitely knows her well - the name that's floating online as the one he's lookig to marry - but I don't think the part about her being responsible for the break-up, or of Omar looking to marry her, is correct," a source told a renowned daily.

The source added that talk of him marrying the Wani girl has been around for a while now.

Interestingly, it is believed that remarriage to the latter might actually do well for Omar's reputation in J&K, considering his first marriage to a Hindu did not go down too well with the conservatives.
