Actor Hugh Jackman has slammed reports that he fractured a WWE wrestler's jaw with a punch during his recent appearance on a show, saying that the fighter is "prone to exaggeration".
Jackman, 42, had appeared on WWE RAW to promote his robo-boxing drama 'Real Steel' and fighter Dolph Ziggler has claimed that the actor left him with a hairline mandibular fracture.
But the Australian hunk said he punched the wrestler but did not break his jaw, Entertainment Weekly reported.
"It was scripted that I would go for that punch, but just before we went on, Dolph (Ziggler) was yelling at me, 'You hit me man'. During rehearsal I said, 'I'd like to do it, but I've spent 20 years pulling punches, trying not to hit. Trying to make it look real, but not really hit'," Jackman said.
But when the actor heard the news next day that he broke his jaw, he did not believe it.
"There's no way. There's cameras everywhere, there's crowd everywhere, there's no way we can whiff it, as they call it. So I hit him pretty hard... I kinda really clocked him in the jaw.
"The next day I read he really broke his jaw and I wasn't surprised — but I don't think he did," Jackman said, adding "He's prone to exaggeration – which is why I hit him! Nah, just kidding!"
