If Celina Jaitley’s fans are missing her presence on the big screen, they don’t have to wait much longer. The model-turned-actress currently has a kitty of films in her pocket.
“I am busy shooting for films back-to-back,” reveals Celina, who has eight projects in hand and is shooting for Mahesh Nair’s Accident On Hill Road at present. The film, she says, will change the way people perceive Indian cinema. “Accident On Hill Road is a thriller and something between commercial and parallel cinema. This film will see the comeback of Farooq Sheikh,” she says.
Celina is also shooting for a Kannada remake of the Priyanka Chopra-Akshay Kumar starrer, Aitraaz. The actress had some
“difficult” homework to do in order to prepare for her role in the film, that is tentatively titled Shreemati. “Kannada is a difficult language and after the pack-up, I used to go back to the hotel and rehearse the dialogues for hours, making sure the right expression also comes across.”
Celina had in fact been approached for the original Hindi movie before Chopra but, as she reveals, “I couldn’t do it as I was under six month contract with Feroz Khan after Jaanesheen.” The actress is not afraid of any comparisons with Priyanka [Chopra] once Shreemati releases. “That’s something I can’t stop people from doing. But yes, Priyanka did a great job in the film,” she says.
Asked why she has taken up a film down south when she already has a clutch of B-town projects in hand, she says, “This is an answer to all those people who think that actresses work in south Indian films only when they have no offers in Bollywood. Working in south Indian films needs more hard work.”
Real vs reel love
The actress has no plans of settling down just yet. “Marriage will happen when I will find the right man,” she says, at the same time hinting that since she comes from an army background, men in uniform stand a better chance of wooing her.
But Celina’s quite sure of who her ideal guy would be in reel life — Aby baby. “I think Abhishek Bachchan and I will make for a good onscreen couple,” she says confidently.
