Kabaddi adjudged best Kannada film, Yogesh best actor

Kannada film 'Kabaddi' has been adjudged the best film and Yogesh best actor for his performance in 'Ambari' by the Karnataka government appointed committee to select films for 2008-09 awards.

Announcing the awards, the Chairman of the Committee Dr Bhargava, a well-known director told reporters that Radhika Pandit has bagged the best actress award for her role in Moggina Manasu.

The second best film award went to Josh and Shankar Punyakoti was declared the third best film.

Muka Puta was selected the best film with a theme having social impact.

Multi-lingual actress B Sarojadevi has been chosen for the Dr Rajkumar award for her contribution to Kannada tinsel world. Jnanpeeth awardee Girish Karnad, was selected for the Puttanna Kanagal award for his lifetime achievement in cinema.

Some other awards announced are - M K Matha (best supporting actor in Tulu film Gaggara), Lakshmi (best supporting actress for her role in Vamshi), Baraguru Ramachandrappa (Best story for film Ugragami), Suri (Best screenplay for Junglee), K M Vishnuvardhan (best cinematographer in Neenyare).

Chetan was selected for the best male playback singer award for the film Ambaari and Nandita, the best female playback singer for her song in the same.
