He is no competition to US politician Mitt Romney’s heavyweight Hollywood support Clint Eastwood, but actor Kal Penn is doing all his bit to support US President Barack Obama in his re-election campaign.
“If you look at the list of things he accomplished in just three years, it’s astronomical. But there’s always more that can be done. I do think he needs more time to accomplish everything,” says the 34-year-old, who took a sabbatical from Hollywood for two years to work as an associate director at the White House’s Office of Public Engagement.
Popular for his Harold & Kumar series, Penn was last seen in A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011) — the third film in the comedy franchise.
Not many know that Penn had to resign from the White House to work on the third movie in the franchise, which never released in India. However, he managed to get re-appointed. “I was only gone for two and a half to three months. When I was done, they still hadn’t filled the position with a full-time person, so I re-applied. It ended up working out and I went back and finished. Now I’m acting full time,” he says.
