Celebrities tend to get a lot of perks owing to their stardom, but often that luck doesn’t extend to single actors who are looking to rent a house in the city.
realised this the hard way when she went apartment hunting. After a futile search, she tweeted, “Being white, single, a woman and working in Bollywood it’s not easy finding a flat to rent in Versova! (sic)”.
The incident occurred close on the heels of another actor, Konkona Sen Sharma, speaking out about her friend, Alankrita Shrivastava, being harassed by the staff and residents of her Yari Road building, who allegedly wanted her evicted as she is a single woman.
Being white, single, a woman and working in Bollywood it's not easy finding a flat to rent in Versova!— Kalki Koechlin (@kalkikanmani) October 27, 2014
Kalki previously lived in Versova with husband Anurag Kashyap, who she is separated from. After they split, she decided to rent an apartment not too far away. A source close to her says, “Since the lease of that house is about to end, Kalki has been trying to look for another one through an agent, but nothing has worked out.”
When we got in touch with the actor, she texted us, saying, “I guess a lot of places don’t want media attention, so it’s understandable.”
