Karan Johar

Last year, he had stated (in an interview to HT) that adopting a child “is definitely on top of my mind at present”. Even now, film-maker Karan Johar admits the same. He says, “It’s definitely a part of my emotional bucket list. But, as of now, the biggest baby that is growing is my company. And I have to take care of it. I am married to it, fathering and parenting it. There’s no particular space for anything (else) at the moment.”

Lately, Karan has been rather busy with announcements of his forthcoming releases, and has had little time to devote to his personal life. So, it makes sense that the plans have been postponed for a while.

But, was it a planned move to make the announcements at one go? “I never like to go on record about anything that’s tentative. I only talk about things that are definite. It’s just happens that all our projects are being planned and structured at the same time,” says Karan.

Others who adopted:
Think of adoption, and the one name that immediately comes to mind is Sushmita Sen. She adopted Renee in 2000. Later, in 2009, she adopted a three-month baby whom she named Alisah. Raveena Tandon — before her marriage to distributor Anil Thadani — too adopted two girls, Chhaya and Pooja. And now, as per latest reports, Manisha Koirala has decided to adopt a baby girl next year.
