Real life catfights between Bollywood divas looking to battle it out for the Number One spot is old news. Right now, there’s a more interesting virtual contest raging between three tinsel town actresses— Mallika Sherawat, Preity Zinta and Gul Panag. The trio is in the race to be crowned Ms Twitter (India) on the Tweeterwall of Fame.
The actresses, all of whom are active users of the microblogging site and command a fan following of a few thousands, were nominated by fellow twitterers about three weeks back to be part of a hundred-odd pool of ladies vying for the top slot. The spoils— the top 19, apart from the winner, will be “immortalised forever” on Tweeterwall.
The scoreboard at the moment reads thus: Preity Zinta, a dismal 4 votes; Mallika Sherawat, a healthy 544, followed hot on the heels by Gul Panag with 542.
But even as the two look certain to come in at top ten, neither is close to actually becoming Ms Twitter—they trail behind the leader, Bangalore-based techie Meera, by almost 2400 votes.
As for the male biggies, they cut a sorry figure on the nominees’ list. Shashi Tharoor ranks at 31st place, and Anoop ‘Dogg’ Desai holds the 114th spot.
