His accent is still very Punjabi… with a smattering of ‘you knows’ —newly acquired from his stay in the US. But WWE star Khali admits that he misses “ghar”. “Hindustan mein pale badhe hain hum, miss toh karenge hi,” he says. And he has a funny bone too. Ask him what he eats to maintain his 190 kilos and 7 feet 3 inches physique? “I eat quite a lot,” he reveals, adding, “Aap kabhi ghar pe bulao to pata chalega.”
He might be a fierce opponent in the wrestling ring, but Khali has a soft heart. In Delhi these days on an assignment, the master wrestler remembers his days as a cop in Punjab Police before he headed to the US. “Main sabse pehle garibon ki madad karta, unki baat sunta… Choron ki bhi khub khaatir karta.”
A fan of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, Khali isn’t game for Bollywood yet. “I would like to [do a film], but right now I’m too busy,” says the World Heavyweight champ, whose Hollywood film MacGruber releases next month. But doesn’t WWE too involve acting, with gimmicky punches? “Which sport is not for entertainment? Kaafi log sochte hain ki sab nakli hai, lekin itna easy hota to saara Hindustan pahunch jaata,” Khali asserts.
