It’s not everyday that we see a filmmaker take on another profession and also do a good job of it. However, Kunal Kohli ensured that he gave a perfect take when he played the priest at the wedding of protégé Danish Aslam with actor Shruti Seth in Goa.

Confirming the news, Kohli says, “Danish is like my son. He was first my assistant director and now I’m producing his debut, Break Ke Baad, too. When he and Shruti asked me to solemnise their wedding, I was very touched and happy to do so.” Apart from him, his teammates from the film, including Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone, were also present for the celebrations.

The couple first had a registered marriage in Mumbai, before heading to Goa. “We both love the sea and had decided that when we exchange rings, it would be in Goa. When we went there after the registration, all our friends knew it, so they all joined us there for the celebrations,” exults Shruti.

When asked about Kohli playing the priest, she says, “Since we had first met on his film, we had requested him to solemnise our wedding. It was very sweet of him to agree and we were very overwhelmed by the beautiful things he said about love, marriage, commitment as we exchanged rings.”

Interestingly, the entire unit of Break Ke Baad was reuniting after a long while. So it was all the more reason for them to have a ball and support their director and his wife on their special day.
