Even as the awards ceremony "goes green" this year with its support to the global cool movement, the IIFA weekend will also feature a film festival - a retrospective of Satyajit Ray's films as well as a celebrity cricket match.

At the nominations announced today by IIFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan, Dhoom 2, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (KANK), Kkrish, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Rang De Basanti and Vivah will compete for the best picture category.

Bachchan himself has been nominated for the best performance in supporting role along with son Abhishek (both for KANK).

Shahrukh Khan, Amir Khan and Sanjay Dutt feature in the best actor nominations.

When asked about being nominated with his son, Bachchan said, "It feels good but I hope he (Abhishek) wins."

Bachchan, who refused to take any questions not related to IIFA, said, "IIFA has emerged more as a coming together of communities, a bonding with people than a mere awards show."

Deputy Commissioner of the British Consulate Vicki Treadell said, "The IIFA awards will prove as a milestone in forging links between Britain and India on the corporate a well as the creative level."
