entertainment Updated: Mar 25, 2011 01:06 IST

Just ten days before her death from heart failure on Wednesday, Hollywood actor Elizabeth Taylor had sent birthday wishes to Bollywood veteran Shashi Kapoor on March 18. Taylor, who died of heart failure at 79, was fond of his films and had met Kapoor at the Venice International film Festival in 1970.

In her message to Kapoor on his 75th birthday, Taylor had said, “”I have fond memories of you in films like Householder, Shakespearewala, Pretty Polly and Bombay Talkies. I especially liked you in Householder and consider your performance a significant one as it was uninhibited right from the first frame.”

Recalling her meeting with him, she said in an interview, “I found him a very charming young man. Shashi Kapoor was India’s first international star in the true sense by virtue of his English films.”
