Even if you end up in the last spot, you could be the winner of this car rally. Such are the offers that come with The Commonwealth Games. No, not the real play-offs, but the run-up to the eagerly-awaited event.
As the government goes on a Games overdrive, Central Bank of India, The official banker of the Games, is organising a family car rally in the city on September 4 to mark 30 days to the event. The rally, which will be flagged off from the Games Organising Committee office near Jantar Mantar, will cover 70 kms of road length."The winner will be decided after adding up the points picked by the participants from marshal booths scattered along the rally route. They need to answer a general knowledge questionnaire that will be made available at the stops. The participant with the maximum score would walk to the podium even if he or she is the last to cross the finish line," an official said.
Participants will also have to decorate their cars with sports as the theme, and up to four from a family can form a team. There are other qualifying criteria, too: “They will have to dress like sports personalities. There will be prizes for the best dressed male, best dressed female and best dressed family,” the official added.
The event, the authorities hope, will bring together “fun-loving” families on a common platform where they can showcase their spirit of sportsmanship and cut a more positive picture of
