Tusshar Kapoor was in a state of shock when he was informed that the DVDs of their just-released home production, LSD (Love Sex Aur Dhokha), were already in the stores. “Are those legitimate copies?” he asks sounding baffled. When told that they were being legally marketed by Moser Baer and released within 10 days of the film’s release, he says, “I’m shocked. I had no idea. I guess the team had it planned but I was clueless.”
Kapoor wasn’t even present at the success bash of the movie, held at his parents’ bungalow, Krishna, in Juhu. He says his sister, who was the host, was aware that he was shooting for Golmaal 3. “The schedule had just started, so I missed it. But Ekta had a blast and a well-deserved one for making a movie like that,” he gushes.
Kapoor was super-confident of LSD’s success. He believes that his sister is a born visionary. “Ekta knew that LSD would appeal to a certain class of audience. Even if it doesn’t become the most successful commercial hit of the year, it will be always be remembered as a path- breaking film,” he asserts.
He points out that the film had a good story and fantastic presentation. “I think even bringing out the home video early didn’t impact the movie much because a certain crowd still wants to watch some movies only in cinema halls,” he says, adding that he knew LSD would work when he saw it for the first time before its release.
Kapoor’s second schedule of Golmaal 3 wraps up in Goa tonight. “So far, the going’s been good,” he says. “I didn’t have to work too hard to develop a rapport with the team this time because I have worked with all of them in at least one movie before this. So, it was basically a picnic on the sets everyday.”Buzz is that Golmaal 3 is a remake of Khatta Meetha? “I don’t want to comment on this. There are enough rumours floating around in the market,” he says.
Having fun on Golmaal 3?
I had a blast. Mithunda (Chakraborty) was dad’s colleague and a senior colleague of mine. He is a livewire on the sets. He’s always joking around, he has so many funny anecdotes to share. I’ve worked with Kareena (Kapoor), Ajay (Devgn), Kunal (Kemmu), Shreyas (Talpade) and Arshad (Warsi) before. Ditto Rohit (Shetty). But I’m just getting to know Ratnaji (Pathak Shah).
Is Golmaal 3 a remake of an earlier hit?
It’s an original film. It doesn’t borrow from any movie, old or new. It’s the fifth film that you are shooting for in Goa.Not just in Goa, even the location for all the shoots has been the same. Intercontinental Hotel in South Goa. The staff knows my staff and me well now. By now, I know which room suits me best.
The staff know what I eat, when I wake up and what I need. It’s become my second home. There are times when I sleepwalk from one room to another, they all look so familiar. The schedule was loads of fun despite the heat.I hope to hear some lines of dialogue from you this time. Aaa ee oo aa. Ooi.
What was that?
That’s what you’ll hear for sure in Golmaal 3. I haven’t been given any lines yet, which isn’t surprising since I still play a ‘goonga’ (mute). (Smiles) Let’s see what the next schedule brings.
What other films are you working on?
Run Bhola Run is ready. Hum Tum Aur Shabana, a Sagar Bellary comedy, should also release this year. Then, there’s Shor and Golmaal 3. My plate is full. Burrp!
