A couple of days ago, Madhur Bhandarkar was busy shooting for his Kareena Kapoor-starrer, Heroine, at Film City. Suddenly, the filmmaker had a surprise visitor on the sets — Mithun Chakraborty. And interestingly, when Madhur met the actor for around 20 minutes, he couldn’t control his emotions.

Here’s what happened. Mithun was busy shooting at Film City. When he heard of Madhur canning Heroine nearby, he went up to meet him. Not many know that Mithun has known Madhur for a long time. Way back in the day, when Madhur worked as a video library boy for a good four to five years, he would deliver videocassettes to Mithun too.

“You can say that Mithunda knows Madhur from his short pants days. But Mithunda always had good things to say about Madhur and quite literally has seen him (Madhur) grow from a video library boy to a National Award-winning filmmaker,” says an insider close to Madhur.

Apparently, when Madhur met the star, he got very emotional. “Mithunda also checked out Madhur’s new SUV. And he was elated to see how the director has grown from a boy who would ride bicycle to a talented filmmaker who owns luxury cars. He gave him a hug saying he is proud of his achievements. Since Mithun has also struggled a lot in his career, he understands what it takes to become one of the leading directors of the country,” says the insider.

When contacted, Madhur only said, “I don’t want to talk about it but I have the highest regards for Mithunda. Since he has known me for a long time, he is the one person who can always give me a reality check of my life.”

Currently, Madhur is busy wrapping up Heroine, which is likely to hit theatres by the end of this year.
