Mahesh Bhatt, who frequently uses his account on Twitter (@MaheshNBhatt) to share philosophical quotes, has over 31,000 followers, is now putting his fan-following on it to good use.
The veteran writer-producer-director, known for critically acclaimed movies like Saaransh, Arth and Sadak, is casting for an upcoming movie and has decided to give an opportunity to newcomers.
On Monday morning, he tweeted: “Is someone out there waiting to become a star? Looking for three new faces for a brave new film of ours. A leading lady and two leading men.”
Even non Twitter-users can be a part of his audition process. Bhatt has put up an email id on which interested wannabe stars can mail him their pictures. On the tweet he adds, “Send details with a simple picture to firstname.lastname@example.org ”.
This is the first time a Bollywood producer or director has used a social networking website to cast for a movie. Bhatt is usually not very interactive on Twitter but, of late, he has been tweeting about his next production, Crook, directed by Mohit Suri.
Since casting for Crook is already underway, it is possible that Bhatt could have put out this announcement for the long-delayed Suicide Bomber that features his son, Rahul Bhatt, in the lead. He does use the phrase ‘brave new film’.
We tried contacting Bhatt for more details, but his phone was switched off. Guess he’s being flooded with responses already.
