It’s the Year of the Tiger according to the Chinese lunar calendar. Mainland China has joined hands with the Save Our Tiger Project to help the big cat find a safer home.
Indroneil Palit, COO, of the food chain, says, “We want to ensure that the magnificent animal does not fall prey to mindless development and poaching. This month, Mainland China will contribute 5 per cent of every bill to the Save the Tiger project fund.”
The Chinese eatery has many outlets across the country that draw around 10,000 diners every day. Awareness about the project, Palit points out, hasn’t penetrated much and he feels that the restaurant could make a difference.
He does not deny that the move will help business. “People want to associate a brand with something meaningful and this will definitely increase footfall,” he acknowledges.
Other plans include having a special table, the proceeds of which will go to the project. Mainland China plans to campaign for other conservation projects too in the future, but flagged off with the tiger, because it is a big hit with kids.
