Bollywood’s bond with Hollywood continues to grow stronger. Anil Kapoor, whose has been known for his growing association with the American film industry, bumped into Mark Wahlberg during a recent trip to Los Angeles. The Fighter actor and Kapoor had an engrossing conversation about their films.
“It has been reported somewhere that I ran into The Fighter director David O Russell, but instead, I met Mark Wahlberg, who was also a co-producer of the film,” says Anil. “It was an interesting meeting. He came across as a very humble and down-to-earth person.” According to the Bollywood actor, The Fighter is one of the best films he has watched in the past few years. “The performances of the entire cast is excellent,” he says. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo even bagged the Oscars in the Supporting Actors category for the film.
Having acted in the international TV series 24, Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire and the forthcoming Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with Tom Cruise, Anil has had quite a few interactions with Hollywood stars. And the one thing that left a lasting impact on him was their humility. “They are huge names with unparalleled amount of fame, but when you meet them, they make you feel like a star. So, if I tell Mark that he has done a superb job in The Fighter, he will tell you, ‘no sir, you were brilliant in Slumdog Millionaire (2009).’ After a while, you start feeling like Mark Wahlberg and Tom Cruise,” he laughs.
Talking about working with the Top Gun (1986) star in the multi-million dollar franchise, Kapoor adds, “I am amazed by Tom’s professionalism.” During the shoot for Mission Impossible, Anil was rehearsing a scene with another co-actor. Though Tom wasn’t required to stay for it, he did not leave. “I was amazed to see that he stayed back for almost one and a half hours for our rehearsal,” says Anil, reiterating his point.
