Singer Marc Anthony says his seven-year marriage to Jennifer Lopez ended because it had stopped working for them.
The singer-actor also admits that he still loves his soon-to-be ex-wife but says the decision to separate was a mutual one, the People magazine reported quoting ABC news.
The 42-year-old also rubbished reports that the split was spurred because of his alleged closeness to Jada Pinkett Smith, his 'Hawthorne' co-star and Will Smith's wife.
"I'll tell you that it wasn't something sensationalistic happening. It was a realization on both our parts. So you know it wasn't shocking. These things happen. It was a decision that we made jointly," Anthony told ABC News in his first interview since their split five weeks ago.
When asked about reports that split was caused because of infidelity, Anthony says, "absolutely not."
Anthony has also put rumours to rest that their reality show 'Q' Viva! The Chosen co-starring his now estranged wife will suffer because of the split.
"This is not a funeral. This is not a burial. This is just two people who came together and just realized – and so I'm saying that it wasn't sustainable the way it was, and that's that."
