The Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has set a new world record after selling out all 4,000 seats for his upcoming gig at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in seven seconds.
Tickets for the former Beatle's April 19 concert at the resort's The New Joint venue went on sale Feb 14 and newly-released statistics suggest the concert was the hottest ticket around, selling at a rate of nearly 600 seats a second, reports contactmusic.com.
The gig promoters at Concerts West/AEG Live hope the Valentine's Day sale encouraged couples to make plans to attend the show, and they want to initiate the planet's biggest "love-in" at the event.
"Although Guinness World Records cites numerous records relating to Valentine's Day, nobody has managed a Valentine's party this big before. So we'll be claiming that," said a spokesperson for the company.
"And there is another Guinness record. It would be cool to break there too. That is the world record for the most couples hugging simultaneously, which is 1,451, set in Taiwan in 2007."
Reports claim that one half of the crowd has bought tickets for the other half of the crowd as their Valentine's present.
The ticket record breaks the previous best set by British boyband Take That, whose 600,000 tickets for their Circus tour sold out at a rate of nearly 40 per second when they went on sale last year.
