Neil Nitin Mukesh is the first Indian face of Vitalspring Technologies, a company that specialises in healthcare solutions for corporates, government agencies, hospitals and also individuals. Later this year, the actor will be shooting a commercial and attending a press conference-seminar in New York that will be attended among other celebrities by Barack Obama.

“I’m looking forward to representing my country and interacting with the American President on a global platform that promotes awareness towards healthy living across the world,” says the actor who does not smoke, drink and describes himself as a health freak. However, he refuses to get preachy on the subject. “All I want to tell young people is that it’s uncool not to focus on health,” he asserts, pointing out that going to the gym everyday, and then grabbing a burger is not the right way to fitness.

“According to me the fittest people in our country are the ‘mazdoors’ (menial labourers) who may not press iron but pick up sacks of sand 18 hours a day and then go home to a meal of two ‘chappatis’. I’m hoping that Vitalspring Technologies will create awareness amongst this section of the society and offer them the health care facilities not available to them presently.” The actor can’t wait to return to New York where Kabir Khan’s New York was filmed. “The other day I heard ‘Hai junoon…’ playing on the radio, and it brought back so many fond memories. I’d always regretted not studying in a boarding school abroad. New York gave me a chance to live the campus life and I had the time of my life,” he smiles. “This trip will be different but I’m sure it’ll be as memorable.”
