Mel GibsonThe court battle between Mel Gibson and his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is set to take another dramatic turn, as a series of recordings of the Hollywood superstar's "racist rants" against his Russian lover have been made public.

The Brave Heart actor launched a tirade against the mother of his eight-month-old love child, claimed the website Radar online which has obtained the audio tapes.

In one jaw-dropping outburst, Gibson, 54, is allegedly heard telling Grigorieva that the way she is dressed will get her "raped" as she looks like a "pig in heat."

The actor who was arrested in 2006 for DUI after he hurled racist obscenities at police officers, uses a racial word to describe African-Americans in the tape, telling Grigorieva that she will be "raped" by a "pack" of black men.

Their baby daughter, Lucia, is said to be heard screaming and crying in the background of the recording.

It is unclear if the website obtained a copy of the recording, or indeed if it is genuine, but the website claims the recorded rants came during a series of explosive arguments between Gibson and the Russian musician.

The ex-couple are caught up in a bitter legal battle which began when they both filed restraining orders against one another.

Grigorieva, 40, recently alleged that the actor punched her in the face twice during a fit of rage, giving her concussion and knocking out two of her front teeth.

Gibson did not deny they had a confrontation but described it, through his lawyer, as a loud argument.

A source told Radar Online that Grigorieva taped her ex after he made a series of death threats against her.

"She wanted to get evidence that he was dangerous and violent. Oksana's motivation for recording this was to show Mel how mean he was, and because she feared for her life," said the insider.

It is unclear how the alleged recordings were made. Some appear to be taped conversations while at least one is a voice-mail message.

Gibson's relationship with Grigorieva ended his 30-year marriage to wife Robyn, with whom he has seven children.
