The Hindi adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic, Romeo and Juliet Ram-leela and the tale of a nautch girl Rajjo hit the theatres today. Horror thriller Insidious Chapter 2 will also be releasing on Friday.

Ram-leela

Synopsis: The film is a Hindi adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic, Romeo and Juliet. Ram, the local village Romeo, is a colourful and charming vagabond, while Leela is an unbridled and passionate village Juliet. The only thing in common between these two strangers is their families’ hatred for each other. The two communities have been sworn enemies since the past 500 years and their own kin falling in love with each other is worse than any storm that could have ever come. When Ram and Leela see each other for the first time, their worlds collide, wars are fought and destinies are written in blood. Set in a land of guns and vengeance against a musical backdrop, Ram and Leela fight the world to live their own dreams. But will their love be accepted by their warring families? This forms the rest of the movie.

The Lambert family learn their struggle with the supernatural is far from over when a long-buried secret plunges them back into a terrifying world of darkness. The famed horror team of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell reunite with the original cast for this second installment.

Rajjo

Synopsis: Rajjo is a love story set against the backdrop of the decaying ‘kothas’ of Mumbai. It is the journey of a women from a mujra girl to a housewife.
Rajjo is a nautch girl, but her pastoral upbringing has moulded her into an altogether a different person quite unlike one. She falls in love with an 18-year-old Brahaman boy, Chandu. Chandu visited the kothas of Nagpada for the first time with his friends to celebrate his victory. There he meets Rajjo, who mesmerises him with her powerful mujra dance. For Chandu, it is love at first sight. He belongs to a family of music lovers and music is the common running thread, so is the strong attraction that draws Rajjo and Chandu together and seals their love. Begum, who runs the kotha, is a very strict person, but when he gets to know about Rajjo’s love, he gets her and Chandu married. Meanwhile, Handa Bhau is a corporator with powerful political connections, and he wants Rajjo at any cost. Bhau tries to break the relationship in all possible ways. Whether he succeeds or not forms the rest of the film.
