"I am still very much part of Jiagang, from where I journey to Kolkata whenever I am in my state. I owe it to the place where I was brought up, played with my friends and the district which rooted for me in the reality show contest Fame Gurukul in 2005 as well as the rest of Bengal," Ariijt said here.
The Ashiqui-2 singer, whose Muskurane ki wajah tum ho from Citylight still tops the charts, said he wanted to promote popular sports like football, badminton, swimming, gymnastics, race, archery, besides yoga and martial arts karate, hockey and kabaddi and would wish to make the sports fair a more regular feature.Read: I slept through auditions: Arijit Singh
"In today's world, we live the life of a stranger. It's time that we take the plunge and play through our mind, body and soul. In my initiative to hold sports events involving local clubs, we want to make it participatory in the truest sense," Arijit, who had first honed up his skills in Bollywood under the tuttelage of Pritam, said.
The Bojhena Se Bojhena singer, having given a string of hits in Bengali numbers, said the sports themed song for his district has already become popular and he wished to churn out more which will characterize Bengal and his native district in their regal splendour.
Arijit took this initiative in collaboration with his friends in Amigos Entertainment.
