While the debate around the suspension of 28-year-old IAS officer, Durga Shakti Nagpal, continues, the internet has been buzzing with support to revoke her suspension.
Nagpal, who is the sub-divisional magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, was suspended last week by the UP government after she was accused of ordering for the wall of a mosque to be razed. Nagpal had allegedly incurred the wrath of the UP officials after she cracked the whip on the sand mafia in Greater Noida.
Over 40 fan and support pages have come up on a popular social networking site within a week of the news, and netizens are vocal about their support for Durga. “All honest people must support such a brave officer, as the future of humanity depends on them. We salute Durga Shakti Nagpal,” writes Om Guru on a fan page. “Chak de phatte madam ji,” adds another fan.
Twitterati is also abuzz with strong tweets. @yogendrakashyap asks, “Who is ready to go to jail to support #Durga?”
Meanwhile, Netizens feel their support will help Nagpal’s cause. “Taking to the internet is an effective way to voice our displeasure. We want to discuss the issue with people and get more support,” says Palash Bedi, a follower on a support page.
