On his first visit to a live Bollywood film set, New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Hon. John Key met actors Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and director duo Abbas-Mustan, on the sets of Players in Filmcity.
As a token of gratitude, Key was presented a Ganesha Idol holding a Handicam by Abbas and Mustan to symbolise Bollywood’s association with New Zealand. Key said, “I’d like to thank Abbas and Mustan bhai, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu for making their wonderful film Players in New Zealand.”
I managed to see a couple of pictures from the filming down in Wellington and Auckland. New Zealand is a great place to make films, and is very popular with the Bollywood industry. We’ve already had 150 Bollywood movies made in New Zealand. Bollywood is a great way to showcase our country to Indian audiences, which is why we hope that the Film Co-Production Agreement signed between our countries will increase cooperation and encourage more Indian filmmakers to make movies down in New Zealand. Players is widely anticipated film,” he said.
