Moulin Rouge actress Nicole Kidman has spoken out about her unhappy marriage to superstar Tom Cruise saying that she felt stifled in the relationship.
The Academy winning actress who had separated from Cruise in 2001 after a ten-year-long marriage said that during their relationship she felt it was her job to "be seen and not heard".
"I felt I became a star only by association. We would go to the Oscars and I would think, 'I'm here to support him'. I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and be seen and not heard," said the 41-year-old during an interview with Easy Living magazine.
After the court had granted them divorce, The Hours actress had famously remarked, "Now I can wear heels", referring to her ex-husband's short stature. But Cruise had gone on to marry another tall actress, Katie Holmes, with whom he has three-year-old daughter Suri Cruise.
After her split from the Jerry Maguire star Kidman had married fellow Australian, country singer Keith Urban, in 2007 and has a 10-month-old daughter Sunday Rose with him.
