Four Oscar nominations, one Oscar win and an acting career spanning over four decades, he could have the whole Hollywood standing by his side. But Anthony Hopkins revealed that he doesn’t really have any actor pals to Piers Morgan on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight.
“I don’t have any friends who are actors,” said the self-confessed Jodie Foster admirer. “I mean, I like actors, but I didn’t want to be friends with them,” he added.
Perhaps that’s the reason why the 73-year-old doesn’t really attend the Oscars now. But is that to keep critics at bay? “It’s self-preservation. I wouldn’t hang around with people if they want to drag me down,” he said.
Experience has eased the frown on his forehead and brought him to peace with his inner self. “I play piano and I write music and I paint. I don’t feel any angst about things,” he says.
Not many know that the veteran also has a secret addiction. “I love buying books. I’m addicted to buying books. Food is my only vice,” said the actor who will be next seen in supernatural thriller The Rite, as a possessed priest.
