Highlight Story

Actor Gul Panag has her priorities clear when it comes to looks. She wants to “stand out” from the typical way Indian heroines look. “I don’t want to look like an assembly line production. The same glossy long hair and sari makes all actors look similar. I want to stand out. It is easy to blend than to stand out,” the actor said at an event in Mumbai.

Looking different from the regular Bollywood divas with her short hair and make-up free look, the actor says she “tries to pick roles that are closer to reality and life.”

Panag, who will next be seen in Prakash Jha’s

Turning 30

, says “I feel fortunate to get roles which are not regular. Being a niche actor, I am fortunate to get a film like

Turning 30

. Why don’t we make such films?

There is more to life than just love stories.” In

Turning 30

, Gul plays an urban woman who struggles to control the chaos in her life as she hits the 30s. She tries to juggle a job, family andfriends while searching for love. The film, co-starring Purab Kohli, releases on January 14.
