Highlight Story

After being in the industry for four years, actor Deepika Padukone has surely come a long way from her modelling days. The 25-year-old is happy to have worked with veterans such as Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikant so early in her career.

Padukone was in town to promote her upcoming film, Aarakshan, in which she plays Poorbi Anand — a girl torn between her father and boyfriend over the issue of reservation. In a freewheeling interview, the actor talks about various facets of her life — professional, personal and controversial.

On Aarakshan:
It is quite different from the films I have done so far. But the subject is very relevant and I believe that every section of society will be able to relate to it.

On romance:
I have decided that there is a certain part of my life that I need to keep to myself. Whether I am in a relationship or not, is irrelevant.

On Saif:
There is certainly a comfort level when you work with someone you have worked earlier with as you understand him. He is great fun on sets .

On Kareena:
Kareena and I have met when she flew down to meet Saif. We have interacted. There is no negativity to write about. We got along fine.
