Sushant Singh Rajput denies hitting drunk onlooker.entertainment Updated: Feb 08, 2011 14:26 IST
Reacting to news reports that he got into a physical fight on the sets of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4, last week, actor Sushant Singh Rajput says. “A drunkard had verbal tiff with my driver. I felt the issue would go out of my hands, so I called the cops and even filed a police complaint. But I realised that the man was too drunk to even understand what was happening. So, I forgave him and let him go.” Sushant adds that he has all the documents to prove his point. “The next thing I read is that I’m an adi-Manav and a psychic who can hit anyone, anywhere. If that were true how is it that I’m working on two shows and I’m doing reasonably well.”
The actor’s family, particularly his sister, is extremely upset. “My family has nothing to do with the entertainment industry. My sister doesn’t understand that when someone becomes popular, people don’t leave an opportunity to pull him down. I’ve been putting my blood and sweat into my work and that, fortunately, shows,” says Rajput, who was also accused of ditching the Zee TV programming team when they wanted Ankita Lokhande and him for the National Anthem video, which was aired on January 26 during Jhansi Ki Rani. Reportedly, the programming team of the channel had stated that Rajput was being extremely unprofessional.
“Suddenly, from a patriotic actor who gives thought provoking performances, I was turned into a reckless, unpatriotic guy. What people don’t know is that I had shot for the anthem video before taking off for my birthday and I was with the Zee team when the video was screened,” he informs. “Just because I keep quiet doesn’t mean that I can be taken for granted.”
Rajput, who is among the most popular contestants on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4, provides free education, and dance and martial arts training to street kids in his locality. He smiles and says, “It’s important because they should also have a chance to make a life of their own. If I have some knowledge, I want to pass it down to anyone who needs and deserves it. Clearly these acts and thoughts can’t be of a person who’s mentally unstable.”
