Though model-cum- actor Poonam Jhawar’s visit to social activist Anna Hazare on Thursday afternoon at the Jantar Mantar has been questioned, she says she was there only to support the cause and not for publicity. “People just show fake support by writing on Twitter, I took a step forward and met Hazare ji by becoming a part of his movement, said the 34-year-old.

She is not bothered by the accusation of being publicity hungry. “My heart knows that I went there as a supporter and not as a celebrity, people know me, gathered around me asking for pictures, which did get me publicity but don’t blame me for it," she says. She met Hazare for five minutes, took his blessings and spent two hours at the venue. She even appealed to the masses saying, “Anna sahab is our Messiah, he requires our support.”

While giving the speech she even mentioned her film 2G Radiation in which she plays Niira Radia. Isn’t that seeking publicity? She disagrees and says, “The film is based on one of the most talked about scams in the country so that’s why I gave reference of the film but with no intention to take away the attention from the prime motive.”
